How long have Shuttercraft been in business?
We started up in October 2002 and have become increasingly busier each year since.

Where are your shutters made?
We manufacture our own shutters here in Ireland using premium quality hardwood grown in the
Appalachian mountains of North America and milled in Northern California.

Do you use different kinds of wood?
After many years using basswood, poplar and MDF, we have come to the conclusion that basswood is the
best material to make plantation shutters from.  It is both lightweight and stable, machines well and accepts
a paint or stain finish equally well.  Each year the US grows almost three times as much basswood
as it harvests so it is truly a renewable resource.

Do you have a cheaper MDF alternative?
We no longer sell  MDF shutters.  While similar in appearance to a solid wood shutter, we found they had
two major drawbacks; the weight of the panels resulted in them sagging in the middle especially when hinged
together and also screws tended to pull out because of the pressure on them and then didn't re-thread
properly when put back in.

How does the buying process work?
If you can take an initial rough measurement of your window opening, we can give you an estimate over the
phone or by e-mail.  If you then wish, one of our consultants will call with samples, take accurate digital
measurements and go through the various design options available to you.  This is a free, no-obligation service.

How long will it take to have my shutters made and fitted?
Once we receive a 50% deposit, your order goes into production and will be ready for fitting within 2- 3 weeks.

Who fits your shutters?
All of our shutter installations are carried out by our own trained fitters.  We don't outsource any of our work
to third parties.  Everything we do from initial measuring to final fitting is done by our own staff.
We measure. We make. We fit!

What if my shutters need painting after a few years?
No problem.  For a small charge, we can take them back to our factory, spray them the same or a different
colour and re-fit them.  This service is only available for painted shutters which were fitted by Shuttercraft.

Do you have agents around the country?
No. We only sell direct to the public.  Currently our home consultants are covering approximately 75% of the
country and in the very near future we hope to be in a position to offer this service in the Munster region.

Are you covered by insurance?
Absolutely.  All of our consultants and fitters are fully covered with public liability insurance.
